Residents of Kairuri village, Embu North are living in fear after a local trader and her family were robbed by gun toting thugs last night.
According to Embu North Deputy County Commissioner Jeremiah Tumo, the trader and her family were accosted by the gangsters as she drove home. The thugs deflated their vehicle by shooting at its tyres after which they robbed the occupants of valuables. Area residents raised alarm after hearing gun shots prompting the thugs to disappear into a nearby coffee farm. Police recovered three spent cartridges at the scene and have launched investigations into the crime. Residents have decried rampant crime in the area.
