CRISIS: EMBU LEVEL 5 HOSPITAL FACES NURSE SHORTAGE
A nurses and doctors shortage crisis is looming at the Embu level 5 hospital. This is according to the Embu County select Health Committee. The revelations come in the wake of an impromptu visit to the facility by the Committee which revealed a high nurse to patients ratio.
The Committee Chairman Harrison Muturi Mwombo disclosed that the high nurses/doctors turn over was occasioned by failure by the County government to honor an agreement signed with the nurses last year, after a strike. The hospital CEO confirmed the urgent need for additional nurses noting that the current situation greatly affected the Renal unit, outpatient section and the Theater.
Runyenjes Central MCA Steve Simba also voiced his concerns noting that the hospital not only serves patients from Embu County, but also those from Tharaka-Nithi, Kitui, Kirinyaga and other neighboring counties… http://theemberian.co.ke/
