FACTORIES ON HIGH ALERT AS PARCHMENT COFFEE STOLEN
Coffee farmers in Ena region of Embu are counting losses after gangsters broke into Minai coffee factory and made away with parchment coffee worth 2.7 million ready to be transported to the coffee auction for export. According to the society Chairman Moses Njiru, the gang gained entry into the factory in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, tied up the watchman before making away with 75 bags of parchment coffee which they loaded into a waiting lorry. The watchman, Mr Waweru Njagi, 64, who reported the incident at Kamuthatha police post, said the gangsters were armed with crude weapons which they used to gain entry. Police have launched investigations into the incident.
