COUNTY GOVERNMENT PLEDGES TO BOOST MACADAMIA PRODUCTION, BETTER PRICES
Macadamia nuts farmers in Embu county have a reason to smile. This is after the county government and various stakeholders in the macadamia industry pledged to cooperate in boosting production and sale of the cash crop.
Addressing journalists in his chambers today, after officials from several Macadamia processors paid him a courtesy call, Embu Governor Martin Wambora announced that his government has formulated policies to ensure that the price of raw macadamia nuts retailed for between shs. 160-200 per kg.
Wambora also said his government has not only embarked on distribution of quality, high yield varieties to farmers to boost macadamia production but also invested in provision of extension services.
Among the players present were officials from PrivamNut Ltd, AfricaChina and TeSense Ltd.
